Alternative Acne Treatments

Once you've gone down the conventional acne treatments road, and come to a dead end, you're likely to start walking down the alternative acne treatments boulevard...

Here you can visit the acupuncturist, the homeopath, the kineisiologist and the herbalist, amongst others. I actually tried these alternative therapies for quite a few years, and although I found some of benefit to my health, and quite therapeutic, the final result was that I still had acne.

Alternative therapies operate on their own systems and theories as to why ill health happens which is quite different to conventional "wisdom". Conventional treatments concentrate on the symptoms, like a dog who looks at the finger pointing, rather than to WHERE the finger is pointing.

I have a lot of respect for the practitioners of these alternative therapies, and particularly enjoyed acupuncture, which usually produced enhanced well being. However, I would not recommend acupuncture for acne because it did not work for me, and I feel it doesn't really attack the root cause of acne in a strong enough manner. Sure it frees up energy flows and can reduce stress, but overall it left me with no reduction in my acne.

My homeopathic therapy was quite interesting. We did a lot of talking, with very specific questions being asked about my emotions and my thoughts on things. A specific homeopathic remedy was then prescribed at the end of each session. Very interesting stuff. Yet it failed to clear my skin and after about a dozen sessions it got to the point where my homeopathic therapist basically said it wasn't worth continuing.

I went to see a herbalist a half dozen times over a few months, she gave me a bottle of some foul tasting herbal liquid each time. It really did taste bad, but if it had worked, it would have been very simple to use in my life, a bit like popping a pill. I really didn't notice any improvement from taking this herbal mixture.

I actually tried many more alternative health treatments, but the above were the most noteworthy. The holistic nature of these treatments, in my opinion, means that satisfactory results are perhaps more likely to occur, compared to conventional acne treatments. But I was still left feeling frustrated that it hadn't cleared MY acne.

It really wasn't until I did lots of research into nutrition and biochemistry that I discovered how to cure my acne. Check it out in my online guide.
