“The Toothpaste Acne Cure And Other Myths” The biggest myth about acne is that if you put toothpaste on your zits then that will clear them up. In reality this is nothing but rubbish, and actually not only useless, but will worsen your acne condition if done regularly. And putting toothpaste on your face is not the only acne myth... Another top myth about curing acne is that if you clean your face a lot it will remove all the dead skin cells and oil which "cause" acne. This is quite frankly a terrible tactic, as the body reacts by producing more oil because over washing dries out the skin, sending a message to the body that it needs more oil. Exactly what you don't want the body to produce more of if you suffer from acne! Using this tactic can often create a surge of extra oil for weeks afterwards, so avoid doing this, even if you want to out of sheer frustration. Ultimately toothpaste will worsen your acne because it dries out the skin, much like benzoyl peroxide does. How about using harsh soaps or creams sold in television adverts? Does this work? Nope. Unfortanately it's not as simple as rubbing a lotion or cream on your skin in order to clear up acne. If it was then there would NOT be any other information on acne, because the cure is would be so simple no one would bother looking for any other information about it! In practice, topicals, especially soaps and creams won't help you, and will often worsen your acne. Poor hygiene is another myth on why people get acne. This is far from the truth as most acne sufferers are very careful to make sure that they keep their skin clean, and often fall for the myth that over washing helps, which it doesn't. Antibiotics are another big acne cure myth. They often produce outstanding results for a few weeks, and then the acne will nearly always come back, often worse than ever because the antibiotic use has negative side effects on the body. The last big myth is that vitamin a is a cure for acne. Absolutely not. In fact, taking large amounts of vitamin a is basically what taking accutane is all about, and this is not a healthy cure for acne, and produces short term results anyway (much like antibiotics). I hope this short article has helped you avoid wasting your time believing in the usual acne myths and useless ways to cure acne.
